A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Bombardier announced last month at the Paris Air Show that Swiss private aviation provider VistaJet has placed a firm order for 10 copies of the Global 8000 ultra-long-range business jet it is developing. VistaJet operates Bombardier aircraft exclusively and this order, worth approximately $650 million at 2011 prices, follows one it placed in May at Ebace for six <a href="?q=node/29715">Global 6000s (formerly Global Express XRS) and two Challenger 605s</a>. It increases VistaJet’s order backlog to more than $2 billion. Once filled, the orders will take the company’s fleet to more than 60 aircraft in response to what it describes as rapid market growth. “We are seeing unprecedented demand in the BRINC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, Nigeria and China) and other fast-growth developing markets in which we operate,” said VistaJet founder and chairman Thomas Flohr. “These markets currently account for more than 75 percent of our flights. At the same time, the geographic reach of our corporate customers places demanding requirements on our fleet, with sectors typically of between five and ten hours in duration.”
The Global 8000’s range of 7,900 nm makes New York a nonstop flight from Hong Kong or Mumbai. The type is scheduled to enter service in 2017.
