<p>In a June 2 letter to customers, Skyservice president Russell Payson exhorted everyone not to curtail travel plans to Toronto despite negative publicity concerning that city’s involvement in the World Health Organization’s (WHO) severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) warnings. He wrote, “I want to indicate that it is business as usual at our FBO.” Employees were not wearing masks or requiring any special screening of incoming passengers or aircraft. Payson further emphasized: the WHO had lifted its ban on travel to Toronto; the only cases of SARS in Canada were the result of hospital-based infection; and common pneumonia has a higher fatality rate than SARS.</p>
