Worldwide shipments of business aircraft in the first six months of the year set a record as the industry’s best first half ever. With final numbers yet to be released by Airbus and Piaggio, the industry recorded shipments in the first half of the year of 518 airplanes, compared with the 503 total aircraft shipped in the first half of last year. The biggest gainer among bizjet makers appeared to be Cessna, which has shipped 140 business aircraft so far this year–34 more than in the first half of last year. Dassault Falcon Jet also saw a significant increase, from 34 business jets in the first half of last year to 48 for the first six months of this year. Bombardier delivered 114 bizjets in the first half of the year, a decrease of two from the first half of last year. Raytheon Aircraft delivered 149 airplanes in the first six months of 2000, and saw that number drop to 117 in the first half of 2001. Gulfstream Aerospace, which acquired Galaxy Aerospace on June 5, shipped 36 GIVs and GVs in the first half of both this year and last year.
