Charles Alcock is managing editor of the AIN Media Group, having rejoined the company in 2019. He has been an aviation journalist since 1986, and previously worked for AIN from 1990 to 2017, most recently as editor-in-chief. His main focus is on covering new aviation technology and business models, as well as international news.
Having been raised in the London area, Alcock studied at the University of Manchester in the UK and earned an honors degree in Politics and Modern History. He speaks English and French, and some German.

The UK’s Coventry West Midland International Airport now has a new business aviation center. Called Midwest Executive Aviation, the new facility, which is on the south side of the airport, has replaced a temporary executive terminal that opened in December on the north side. That facility is now being demolished. 
Midwest Executive managing director Nick Weston told AIN that the company will offer a full range of handling services at the slot-free airport, which claims to be more business aviation-friendly than the increasingly busy Birmingham International Airport, which is 13 mi northeast of Coventry. Weston is a former employee of UK FBO group Execair, which has a facility at Birmingham.
Coventry also competes for Midland region traffic with East Midlands Airport, 33 mi to the north. Coventry’s 6,000-ft runway is open from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, but these hours can easily be extended as the airport is commonly used at night by freight operators. Saturday opening hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays. The runway is equipped with a Cat I ILS.
The new bizav center consists of an 86,000-sq-ft, two-story building that is separate from Coventry’s standard passenger and freight facilities. Apron space has been extended to accommodate up to eight bizliners simultaneously. The airport is privately owned by the Air Atlantique Group.
