<p>The families of nine people killed in a February 2004 Super King Air crash cannot sue the manufacturer, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth District has ruled. The court upheld a lower court’s decision, which stated that the General Aviation Revitalization Act of 1994 precluded the lawsuit. The act states that manufacturers cannot be held liable if the aircraft is more than 18 years old. The King Air in question was built in 1980. It was owned by the government of the Republic of Macedonia and crashed in a mountainous region in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Seven passengers (including the president of Macedonia) and two pilots were killed.</p>
