Lombardo covers business aviation maintenance-related issues. He is also a writer and on-air reporter for AINtv. He has over 3000 articles published and is the author of several books on aircraft systems for pilots and on the topic of flight simulation.
He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from the University of Illinois, has taught aviation for over 35 years in industry and as a university professor and academic dean at three different universities. He is also a frequent seminar and after-dinner motivational speaker.&nbsp;
Lombardo holds an A&amp;P Certificate, ATP, CFI and Ground Instructor ratings. He was a corporate pilot and was a research pilot and flight instructor at the University of Illinois. An FAA Safety Counselor for over 25 years, he was one of the original 13 Counselors appointed to the FAA’s Airworthiness Safety Program for maintenance technicians.&nbsp;

For the 15th consecutive year, Agustin Melgar staged his annual business aviation show in Toluca, Mexico. This year the name of the annual March event changed from what would have been “Aero ’07” to the Mexican Business Aviation Exhibition. 
Toluca, about 35 miles southwest of Mexico City, is arguably the premier business aviation center in a country whose population of general aviation aircraft is second only to that of the U.S.
“Our show was the first in the country when we began in 1992 and has frequently been chosen by OEMs to present new aircraft for the first time outside the U.S.,” Melgar told AIN.
“This year’s static display included the Eclipse, a Gulfstream G150, Australia’s Airvan and was scheduled to include Citation’s Mustang. That airplane was canceled at the last minute with an avionics problem.” 
The show’s 37 exhibitors and 1,816 attendees might seem anemic compared to attendance at NBAA’s annual convention, but exhibitors routinely praise the event. Melgar manages to draw strong industry support, with heavyweights such as Gulfstream, Cessna, Eclipse, Bombardier, West Star Aviation, American Express, Embraer, Arizona Jet Center and ExxonMobil exhibiting. Janie Rovolis, director of event marketing for Gulfstream, told AIN, “I heard nothing but good things about the show.”

<h3>A Successful Show</h3>
Ed Harris, v-p of sales and marketing for aircraft completions with Indianapolis Jet Center, was a first-time attendee. He said, “The Mexican Business Aviation Exhibition was very well run.
“Our goal was to introduce our company to Central America, and we walked away with new customers and several requests for quotes. The success of any show for us is measured in RFQs. So I would say this was a great show for us.” &nbsp;
This year the show was hosted in a different venue, a new FBO called EOLO. Exhibitors and attendees were happy with the change, and Melgar has said that the facility will be the permanent site for future shows.
