Management at Landmark Aviation, the newly named entity that includes the former Garrett/Piedmont Hawthorne/Associated alliance, wasted no time climbing on the acquisition bandwagon. Company president Roger Wolfe announced at the NBAA Convention in Orlando last month that Carlyle Group-backed Landmark had reached an agreement with Jet Equity to acquire Skyport Flight Services, the 50-year-old FBO Jet Equity acquired in July last year. Jet Equity has apparently abandoned plans to launch its own “nationwide” chain of FBOs under the Skyport brand name.
Skyport becomes the 34th FBO in the Landmark stable and provides fueling, storage and limited maintenance services at HPN. It will become a base for one of Landmark’s nine Mobile Service Teams, consisting of technicians on call to travel to aircraft in the area and also to provide 24-hour service on site at HPN.
