Indian budget carrier IndiGo placed a $20 billion order (at list prices) for CFM International Leap-1A engines to power 280 Airbus A320neos and A321neos&nbsp;on the opening day of the Paris Air Show, marking CFM's largest single engine order. The airline will take delivery of its first Leap-1A-powered A320neo in 2020. Its contract also includes spare engines and an overhaul support agreement, as well as a long-term service agreement for the engines.

 


IndiGo is the largest customer for&nbsp;Pratt &amp; Whitney GTF engines for&nbsp;Airbus 320neos. Following initial issues with the GTF, IndiGo suffered a large number of grounded aircraft, but acknowledged it received compensation from Pratt &amp; Whitney&nbsp;for the AOGs.

 


The airline presently operates a fleet of 17 A320ceos powered by CFM56-5B engines, part of a total fleet of 215 A320/A321 family aircraft. Fast-growing IndiGo has a fleet of more than 230 aircraft, with around 1,400 daily flights, 54 domestic destinations,&nbsp;and 19 international destinations.
