Gregory Polek has spent his entire career in aviation journalism with AIN, starting as a proofreader and assistant to then-managing editor Mary Mahoney in 1995 after serving an internship with&nbsp;New Jersey Monthly&nbsp;magazine and completing his B.A. degree in English/Writing at New Jersey’s William Paterson College. By 1997 Polek accepted a position as an associate editor, covering the regional airline beat for&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;in place of retiring industry veteran Don Anderson. The assignment took Polek across North America and Europe to profile regional airlines varying in size and mission from the likes of floatplane operators Kenmore Air and Chalk’s Ocean Airways to regional jet operators such as SkyWest and American Eagle. Today, in his dual role as Air Transport Editor and International Airshow Editor, Polek writes, edits, and manages AIN’s commercial aviation content while overseeing each of the company’s daily international air show publications in Paris, Farnborough, Singapore, and Dubai. Most recently Polek has assumed oversight of daily coverage of the Helicopter Association International’s annual Heli-Expo convention.

CargoLogicAir (CLA), the UK partner of Russia’s AirBridgeCargo (ABC), plans to launch its first scheduled cargo route on August 19, providing main-deck services connecting London and Mexico City.

 


Schedules call for Boeing 747-400 flights to depart from CLA’s base at London Stansted Airport every Wednesday and Saturday. Flights will operate to Mexico City International Airport via Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

 


The full aircraft routing, which sees ABC’s 747 freighter also operating via Houston, Frankfurt and Abu Dhabi, widens CLA customers’ choice of Europe-Mexico, Europe-Middle East and U.S.-Middle East connections. Over Frankfurt, it links with the global network of AirBridgeCargo, allowing CLA to offer onward connections to the Asia-Pacific region.

 


CargoLogicAir, which plans to offer a total cargo capacity of over 200 metric tons a week on its new routes, has also appointed Aerocharter its general sales agent in Mexico, AirCargoAmericas in the U.S. and AirFreightLogistics in Europe.

 


The UK Civil Aviation Authority awarded CLA its air operator certificate (AOC) at the start of 2016. Since then, it has provided global charter services and supporting ACMI contracts. The launch of its first scheduled route follows the delivery of CLA’s third Boeing 747 freighter this past May. The airline recently reported 44-percent year-over-year growth in its ACMI and charter operations in the first half of 2017.

 


&nbsp;“The arrival of our third 747 freighter means we are ready to begin our scheduled cargo operations and we are confident the routing we have chosen will appeal strongly to customers moving car spares, high-tech, energy, aerospace and healthcare products," said CargoAirLogic CEP Dmitry Grishin.
