Delta Expands Partnership, Acquires Stake in China Eastern

Under the 'enhanced strategic partnership' Delta will invest $450 million to acquire a 3.55 percent stake in the Shanghai-based carrier.

Delta Air Lines and China Eastern Airlines announced an agreement to expand their current relationship, with Delta paying $450 million to acquire a 3.55 percent stake in Shanghai-based China Eastern. The carriers said the new “commercial cooperation plan” will help them compete more effectively on routes between the U.S. and China.
