Japan’s All Nippon Airways has decided to delay its decision on whether to order Boeing 747-8s or Airbus A380s due to the global recession, the company confirmed today. “ANA has decided to postpone the selection of its future large aircraft type, given the unforeseen changes to its operating environment since the financial crisis of September this year,” it said in a written statement. “ANA’s New Aircraft Selection Committee will remain on hold until the company deems market conditions conducive to resuming the selection process.”

A decision to defer certain capital expenditures by the airline won’t affect its plans for taking deliveries of Boeing 787, however. The launch customer for the type, it now expects delivery of the first of 50 it has ordered in 2010 due to a near-two-year delay in the program.
