In another sign of hard times in the airline industry, the Air Transport Association (ATA) has canceled its inaugural Aviation Leadership Forum, originally planned for March 4 to 6 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. “Given the extremely fragile state of the U.S. economy and the uncertainty facing the aviation community with fuel price volatility and softening demand, we felt it best to cancel the event,” the association said in response to registration inquiries. The ATA billed the event as a prime opportunity to interact with airline CEOs, Wall Street leaders and news media.
