A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Business aviation sustainability solutions provider 4Air reached a milestone with 10 million gallons of blended sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) recorded on its Assure SAF registry. <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2023-05-25/4air-tackling-saf-assurance-and-contrails">Launched</a> earlier this year, Assure serves as an inventory and registry system for both business and commercial aviation, providing end-to-end traceability from the SAF producer to the supplier or airline, through the FBO, and ultimately to the end user.
This traceability is particularly crucial for book-and-claim, where a customer will pay for and receive SAF’s environmental attributes but the actual fuel is dispensed at an airport where SAF is physically present.
According to 4Air, it can provide a detailed history for even the smallest amount of SAF, as well as preventing double claims on environmental benefits. As a data clearinghouse, it will enable “a true understanding of SAF usage and its impact.”
“The Assure SAF registry is more than just a tracking tool; it is a foundational element for the future of sustainable aviation,” said 4Air COO Nancy Bsales. “By providing a secure, transparent, and verifiable system, we are building the infrastructure necessary to scale SAF production across the industry.”
She added that Assure—which was designed to assist with tracking requirements for both voluntary and regulatory reporting—addresses the critical need for accountability and trust, paving the way for wider adoption of SAF.
