Ian Sheppard has acted as Editor International Show Editions for AIN since June 2013. Based in the Redhill, England, Ian reports for the various AIN publications as well as providing support to International Editor Charles Alcock in covering international air shows (such as Farnborough, Paris, Singapore and Dubai), and the EBACE and MEBA business aviation events. His central role is to cover Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Prior to becoming more involved with AIN in mid-2011 (initially as deputy international editor), Ian worked for various aviation publications through his company, First Aerospace Media. This included being part of the AIN team covering daily news at international air shows.
Ian has worked for publications such as Flight International (technical reporter, 1997-8) and Aerospace International (editor, 1999-2000). He was publications manager at Airclaims (Ascend) between 2000 and 2004 before forming First Aerospace Media. Since mid-2009 Ian has also been managing editor of Regional International, the journal of the European Regions Airline Association (ERA).
Ian hasis working towards a European commercial pilot licence, having held an FAA private pilot license in 1991, and instructor rating. He also has a degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Bath, England, and a graduate diploma in law from Kingston University, and is a graduate of the legal practice course (College of Law, Guildford).

Liebherr-Aerospace (Chalet L65) has brought several major components that it manufactures to the Singapore Airshow this year, with two Airbus A320 family heat exchangers forming the central focus of its exhibit.

 


The exchangers are presented “in an educational way” for visitors, said the German company. One exchanger is in pre-repair condition and the other in post-repair condition, “giving an example of an OEM's repair process.”

 


Last year, Seletar-based Singapore Component Solutions (SCS), a joint venture between AFI KLM E&amp;M and Sabena Technics (SNT) dedicated to ATR and Airbus A320 family fleets, signed a cooperation agreement with Liebherr-Aerospace under which Liebherr helped SCS develop capabilities dedicated to its A320 heat exchangers. SCS is now part of Liebherr's worldwide network for heat exchanger maintenance and can carry out cleaning and repairs (but not renovation or reconstruction).

 


Charles Thoyer-Rozat, v-p of customer services at Liebherr-Aerospace, said at the time: “We are very pleased to join forces with a major player in the global multi-product aircraft maintenance market. This agreement sets out the framework of a win-win partnership for both parties that will allow Liebherr to further develop its repair network in Asia.”

 


Toulouse-based Liebherr-Aerospace and Transportation, which employs 5,800 people, is responsible for coordinating all the Liebherr Group’s aerospace and transportation systems activities&nbsp;and is one of the company’s 11 divisions.

 


As well as the heat exchangers, Liebherr is presenting examples of its product lines for both the civil and military sectors in areas such as air management, flight control, actuation systems, landing gear, electronics, and gearboxes.

 


Its aerospace product lines are manufactured at four plants—in Lindenberg (Germany), Toulouse, Guaratinguetá (Brazil), and Nizhny Novgorod (Russia).

 


The company said these systems are deployed in widebody&nbsp;aircraft, single-aisle, and regional aircraft, business jets, combat aircraft, military transporters, military training aircraft, civil helicopters, and combat helicopters.

 


Liebherr is also highlighting the extent of its growing customer services network, with offices located in Dubai (UAE), Bangalore, Singapore, Shanghai, Saline (Michigan), Seattle (Washington), Montreal (Canada), Hamburg, and Moscow.
