Ian Sheppard has acted as Editor International Show Editions for AIN since June 2013. Based in the Redhill, England, Ian reports for the various AIN publications as well as providing support to International Editor Charles Alcock in covering international air shows (such as Farnborough, Paris, Singapore and Dubai), and the EBACE and MEBA business aviation events. His central role is to cover Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Prior to becoming more involved with AIN in mid-2011 (initially as deputy international editor), Ian worked for various aviation publications through his company, First Aerospace Media. This included being part of the AIN team covering daily news at international air shows.
Ian has worked for publications such as Flight International (technical reporter, 1997-8) and Aerospace International (editor, 1999-2000). He was publications manager at Airclaims (Ascend) between 2000 and 2004 before forming First Aerospace Media. Since mid-2009 Ian has also been managing editor of Regional International, the journal of the European Regions Airline Association (ERA).
Ian hasis working towards a European commercial pilot licence, having held an FAA private pilot license in 1991, and instructor rating. He also has a degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Bath, England, and a graduate diploma in law from Kingston University, and is a graduate of the legal practice course (College of Law, Guildford).

Boeing has elected to strengthen its partnership with the Ayrton Senna Institute (IAS), agreeing to extend funding for the next three years to help boost STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education in Brazil.

 


Boeing said the partnership “will help more than two million school children and youth with a quality education that builds the necessary skills for the 21st century, not only to ensure proper school learning, but also social-emotional skills, such as collaboration, critical thinking, logical thinking, creativity, and communication, among many others.”

 


The investment, of around $3 million, “expands Boeing’s commitment to Brazil while building on the company’s existing collaboration with Ayrton Senna Institute,” said the company.

 


“In the last two years, Boeing and the organization have offered coding classes and STEM training for 271 educators in 125 schools, reaching 4,453 students throughout Brazil.” Over the past 10 years, Boeing has invested more than $2 million in community projects in Brazil.

 


Marc Allen, Boeing’s president of Embraer Partnership and group operations said, “Brazil has a well-deserved reputation for innovation and technical leadership within the aerospace industry, and Boeing is committed to helping grow the next generation of innovators and leaders."

 


“In 25 years of history we have already benefited over 26 million children and young people in Brazil and we believe that through quality public education we can change Brazil,” said Viviane Senna, president of the Ayrton Senna Institute.

 


IAS is present in 15 states and more than 450 municipalities, supporting the training of 60,000 professionals per year and benefiting the education of more than 1.5 million students per year.
