Latitude Technologies Highlights New Capabilities
Latitude claims that its FANS 1/A+-compliant system is the first lightweight, multi-function satellite data unit on the market.

Headquartered in Victoria, B.C., Latitude Technologies is a provider of flight data management, flight following and satcom systems for both business and GA aircraft and helicopters. As well as displaying its product families at NBAA, Latitude is launching its DL150 satellite data unit (SDU). Latitude claims that this FANS 1/A+-compliant system is the first lightweight, multi-function SDU on the market.

At the NBAA show, Latitude took orders for the SDU, which will be qualified to TSO-C159b, DO-262B, DO-178C level-D and DO-160G. Capabilities supported by the DL150 SDU include ATS notification, Acars and CPDLC messaging and Arinc-741 and -618 protocols. Buyers will have the option of adding flight-tracking and three-axis acceleration monitoring as well as using discrete inputs for optional event reporting.

Another recent achievement for Latitude is the award of an STC from Transport Canada for the installation of its IONode ION100 lightweight flight data recorder on the Airbus Helicopters EC135. The ION100 interfaces with the helicopter’s vehicle engine monitoring device (VEMD) to provide automated access to engine parameters such as torque, temperature and rpm. The ION100 also distributes air data and heading parameters, as well built-in GPS and inertial information.
