Since 1986 Harry Weisberger has been a contributor to Aviation International News and a regular member of its HAI and NBAA convention news editorial staff. He was previously a marketing communications specialist for Sperry Flight Systems in Phoenix, providing information involving the general aviation, airline, defense and space market segments. His aviation journalism activity has also included writing and editing for Flight Training, Business Aviation Safety Journal, Private Pilot and Arizona Flyways (for whom he interviewed Barry Goldwater and Paul Tibbets. He has also contributed to Smithsonian Air &amp; Space and Aero magazines. He served 5-1/2 years on active duty with the U.S. Navy as a radar intercept officer in F4 Phantom jet fighters, followed by Naval Air Reserve duty as a patrol plane navigator. Weisberger’s journalism career began at the Santa Ana Register (now Orange County Register) where he was a beat reporter and copy desk editor. He holds a commercial pilot license with instrument rating, has logged 1,980 pilot hours and has owned or been a partner in five general aviation aircraft.

Insurance underwriter Global Aerospace is highlighting its partnership with consulting firm Waypoint Global Strategies to provide training and logistical support to the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) community and Global Aerospace customers through its SM4 safety program.

 


Under the partnership, Waypoint subsidiary Unmanned Safety Institute (USI) will provide customers with safety awareness resources and professional training. Waypoint and Global Aerospace have designed the program to provide UAS operators with consulting and data analytics services and access to online training webinars.

 


“We will continue to demonstrate our commitment to the exciting and rapidly growing sector of UAS,” said Chris Proudlove, team leader for complex risks at Global Aerospace. “With our wide range of products developed specifically for UAS and partnerships with experts such as Waypoint Global Strategies, we are fully prepared to support this expanding industry.” The partnership includes training in best practices for UAS flight safety, including identifying and minimizing risk exposure and core principles such as human factors and technology reliability.

 


Waypoint and USI representatives will be available at the Global Aerospace exhibit (Booth 3685) today and Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to present interactive UAS simulator demonstrations.
