Metro Aviation (Booth No. 415) recently completed a year-long approval process for a supplemental type certificate (STC) for installation of the Garmin GTN650/750 in EC135 helicopters, making the company the first to offer the touchscreen GPS, nav and com units available for installation on single-pilot IFR rotorcraft.
“In an age of touchscreen tablets delivering information at a moment’s notice, this equipment is more in line with what we have come to expect, and I am happy that we are now able to provide this technology to our customers,” said Metro Aviation managing director Milton Geltz. 
The <a href="http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/ebace-convention-news/2011-05-15/garmin-touchscreens-are-new-pilot-interface">Garmin GTN 650/750</a> replaces legacy GNS 530s. In addition to the touchscreen interface, the GTN units feature digital audio and both standard weather radar display and satellite radar options.
