Liebherr Joins Forces with Thales For Innovative Power

At the Paris Air Show in 2009 Liebherr Aerospace & Transportation and Thales Avionics Electrical Systems announced a memorandum of agreement covering a range of business and technological initiatives in the field of power-optimized aircraft. The first joint research project is being showcased here in the form of a mock-up of the GETI test platform.

Part-funded by the French civil aviation authority, GETI (Gestion dynamique de la puissance Electrique et de la gestion Thermique) is a test stand that integrates electrical and thermal power consumers. It was recently installed at Liebherr Aerospace’s Toulouse facility and combines elements supplied by the two partner companies, plus Sonaca from Belgium. Thanks to its generic open architecture, the test platform can represent a wide range of commercial aircraft and its smart power management capabilities allow it to replicate and monitor the dynamic behaviors of both electrical and thermal loads during a flight mission profile.
