Gregory Polek has spent his entire career in aviation journalism with AIN, starting as a proofreader and assistant to then-managing editor Mary Mahoney in 1995 after serving an internship with&nbsp;New Jersey Monthly&nbsp;magazine and completing his B.A. degree in English/Writing at New Jersey’s William Paterson College. By 1997 Polek accepted a position as an associate editor, covering the regional airline beat for&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;in place of retiring industry veteran Don Anderson. The assignment took Polek across North America and Europe to profile regional airlines varying in size and mission from the likes of floatplane operators Kenmore Air and Chalk’s Ocean Airways to regional jet operators such as SkyWest and American Eagle. Today, in his dual role as Air Transport Editor and International Airshow Editor, Polek writes, edits, and manages AIN’s commercial aviation content while overseeing each of the company’s daily international air show publications in Paris, Farnborough, Singapore, and Dubai. Most recently Polek has assumed oversight of daily coverage of the Helicopter Association International’s annual Heli-Expo convention.

Bombardier’s wholly owned Amsterdam Service Center at Schiphol International Airport will soon add engine services by Dallas Airmotive, interior refurbishment by OHS Aviation and aircraft cleaning and detailing by the Allen Group to its maintenance services for Learjet, Challenger and Global business jets, the Canadian company announced yesterday. Plans call for a series of agreements with the three suppliers to take effect in the second half of this year.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;


Bombardier has recruited Dallas Airmotive to provide engine support for the Learjet 30, 40, 50 and 60 series and the Challenger 300. The services will include scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, light repairs, major overhauls, hot section inspections and foreign object damage repairs.


Meanwhile, the deal with OHS Aviation Services calls for the Berlin-based supplier to create custom interiors and perform cabin repairs on all Bombardier business jet models. Finally, the Allen Group, which maintains operations in Europe and the U.S., has agreed to provide aircraft cleaning, detailing and paint repair services on all Bombardier business aircraft models.


One of nine Bombardier-owned service centers around the world, the Amsterdam facility has seen its average monthly visit rate gradually increase since it opened in 2010. In response, Bombardier has boosted staffing levels and added capabilities since it opened in 2010. In recent months, Bombardier has continued to expand its customer support network for European customers, opening its ninth regional support office outside North America in four years last July, in Farnborough, UK. Europe now serves as the base for 554 Bombardier business jets.
