Thrane &amp; Thrane was demonstrating its new Aviator wireless handset at Ebace, offering at last a handset of a size to warrant the term “small.”
The 6.2-ounce Aviator features noise and echo cancellation and comes in a compact package that includes a 2.2-inch color display and tactile controls familiar to mobile phone users. The lithium-ion battery allows up to 24 hours standby time and up to six handsets can be installed on any Thrane &amp; Thrane Aviator satcom system.
A 28-VDC cradle, available for handset charging, is expected to receive FAA certification in the very near future, to be followed by EASA approval.
