The first aircraft to receive Garmin's new ­stability augmentation system–Garmin Electronic Stability and Protection (Garmin ESP)–for G1000 and G3000 integrated flight decks is a Hawker Beechcraft King Air 200. Garmin ESP automatically nudges the controls back toward stable flight whenever pitch, roll or high-speed deviations exceed the recommended limits. Garmin ESP works even when the autopilot is off, using autopilot servos to "nudge" controls to bring the airplane back within normal pitch, bank and speed parameters and then disengaging when the aircraft returns to normal flight. Pilots can overpower ESP or disable it using autopilot disconnect or CWS buttons. List price for the King Air 200 Garmin ESP is expected to be $17,995. Garmin ESP is also available for the King Air C90 G1000 retrofit and will be available for King Air 300/350 G1000 retrofits in the middle of the year.
