Southeast Aerospace Buys Global Aerospace Southeast Aerospace has acquired Global Aerospace Consulting, which specializes in systems design, integration, certification and technical publications. Southeast (Booth No. 2300) has retained Global president N. “J.” Curran and appointed him as the company’s director of engineering and certification. Southeast plans to take advantage of Curran’s capability to be an FAA Organization delegation authorization (ODA) administrator and obtain STC, PMA and major alteration ODA approval. As part of the purchase of Global Aerospace, Southeast Aerospace acquired Global’s STCs, processes and formats. 
Aero Dynamix NVIS OK’d for MD902 EASA has granted a supplemental type certificate to Aero Dynamix (Booth No. 2439) for installation of its Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) in an MD Helicopters MD902. This is the first EASA STC for NVIS in Europe based on validation of an FAA STC, according to Aero Dynamix. Certification activities were conducted in Denmark at Casa Air facilities, the operator of the MD902. Jessie Kearby, Aero Dynamix certification engineer, traveled to Denmark to work with Casa Air, EASA and MD Helicopters personnel on the certification program. EASA approved the STC in December.
U.S. Navy Signs Deal for Elbit Video Datalink Elbit Systems of America (Booth No. 1305) won a contract last month for its tactical video datalink (TVDL) system. The contract with the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command includes development, production and installation of kits to retrofit the TVDL on U.S. Marine Corps AH-1Ws. TVDL delivers live video and targeting information and has the capability of transmitting TVDL and onboard sensor video to ground forces, according to Elbit. Subcontractors Tadiran Spectralink and Service Support Associates are supporting Elbit Systems of America in the contract, valued at about $15.6 million through 2010. 
Nivisys Industries Names North American Dealer Night vision and thermal technology company Nivisys Industries selected Night Flight Concepts as the exclusive North American distributor of the Nivisys Night Vision Aviator Goggle. Night Flight Concepts (Booth No. 1024) is based in Port St. Lucie, Fla., and provides night vision goggle (NVG) equipment, training, inspections/maintenance and support for helicopter operators. The Nivisys (Booth No. 229) NVG is the only such system holding FAA Technical Standard order approval, which was granted in 2008. “This agreement will provide the civil aviation industry with complete and qualified night vision resources from a highly respected team in a streamlined fashion,” said Nivisys v-p of business development Tom Horwath.
EMS Technologies Is Now EMS Aviation EMS Sky Connect (Booth No. 4123) is exhibiting at Heli-Expo under a new corporate umbrella. Parent company EMS Technologies has reorganized its aero division and folded all the aviation-related businesses into the new EMS Aviation business group. The purchases by EMS Technologies of EMS Formation, a supplier of technology for Aircell’s high-speed Internet service, and EMS Sky Connect, a maker of Iridium satcom hardware, have expanded the reach of the aero division, necessitating the name change and business realignment, said EMS Technologies president and CEO Neil Mackay. “Through EMS Aviation, we can now address connectivity markets for virtually any aircraft, from helicopters and military airplanes to business jets and airliners.” EMS Technologies has appointed Nim Evatt, formerly the general manager of EMS Formation, as EMS Aviation’s vice president and general manager, reporting to Mackay.
