While the aviation industry is facing tough economic times, Ranger Rotorcraft Group continues a program of expansion headlined by launch of a new engineering unit, Ranger AeroDesign (Booth No. 3935).
The unit will provide comprehensive technical services and adjunct engineering staffing to OEMs, FBOs, prime contractors and aircraft modification centers in both the fixed-wing and helicopter markets. Headed by Fida Waishek and located in Irving, Texas, it will operate as an independent business unit and act as a catalyst for service growth, products and supplemental type certificate development.
Internally, AeroDesign will support engineering requirements for Texas Aviation Services and Integrated Flight Services at Meacham Field in Fort Worth “and other companies acquired by Ranger Aerospace.”
Texas Aviation Services is the largest of the Ranger Aerospace subsidiaries. Over the past two years, since its acquisition in 2007, it has invested “record amounts in technical capacity and shop enhancements,” including capability for rotorcraft customizations, completions, military retrofits and spares handling. Facilities expansion has included a component overhaul center, wire harness shop and training center as well as an additional paint booth, avionics test bench room and sheet metal shop.
Ranger Rotorcraft, with Texas Aviation Services, has also announced it is increasing the scope of its maintenance and overhaul services for aging helicopters.
Maintenance, the company noted, is a critical part of its business model, “since the installed base of aging helicopters is enormous and steadily growing.”
