The Spanish airports and air navigation authority (AENA) has granted Executive Airlines a license as one of two companies to manage Barcelona El Prat Airport’s new FBO 2 business aviation terminal. The license term extends from March 1, 2008, to the end of 2009, with the possibility of a one-year extension.
This adds to Executive Airlines’ existing terminal at Madrid Torrejón Airport and its facility at Valencia. The new El Prat FBO will include passenger lounges, crew rest areas, offices for operational personnel and the company’s sales department.
The second licensee at the facility, located in the new Airport Services Park, is a joint venture between Spain’s leading business aviation operator Gestair, and airline representative and general aviation handling agent Assist Air. The rest of FBO 2 has been allocated to AENA, passenger control and national security services. Road access to and from the new private aviation terminal is separate from the public areas of the airport, facilitated by dedicated access points through the Airport Services Park.
According to Executive Airlines FBO and commercial director Patricio Zunino, there is no other business terminal of this kind and size in Spain. He said the Barcelona facility “compares favorably with the top class terminals established in other European cities.”&nbsp;
