<p>Wall Street reaction to the appointment of David Cote as CEO of Honeywell was mixed (see page 12). An article in The Wall Street Journal shortly after the announcement late last month said Cote, most recently CEO of TRW, “has cultivated a reputation as a relentless yet personable cost cutter. But are those the best skills to help revive and expand [Honeywell’s] diverse mix of aerospace and industrial business?” Cote has said he plans to focus on growth “organically” and through acquisitions. Supporters of Cote, the WSJ noted, say his “focus, people skills and financial acumen are a good match for the latest challenges.” </p>
