Lombardo covers business aviation maintenance-related issues. He is also a writer and on-air reporter for AINtv. He has over 3000 articles published and is the author of several books on aircraft systems for pilots and on the topic of flight simulation.
He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from the University of Illinois, has taught aviation for over 35 years in industry and as a university professor and academic dean at three different universities. He is also a frequent seminar and after-dinner motivational speaker.&nbsp;
Lombardo holds an A&amp;P Certificate, ATP, CFI and Ground Instructor ratings. He was a corporate pilot and was a research pilot and flight instructor at the University of Illinois. An FAA Safety Counselor for over 25 years, he was one of the original 13 Counselors appointed to the FAA’s Airworthiness Safety Program for maintenance technicians.&nbsp;

In an effort to jump-start the organization, citing economic factors and membership growth as major motivators, the board of directors of the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association (PAMA) recently voted to lower individual annual membership dues from $70 to $49. The board says that boosting membership is its top priority, and the cost of dues had become “a disproportionately large deciding factor for prospective and renewing members in these difficult financial times,” said Brian Finnegan, the organization’s president.
“This landmark vote was driven by PAMA’s regional directors and the leadership of PAMA’s nationwide chapter network,” he said. “It is an essential step into a prosperous future. Though dues costs are not usually given as the reason people join an association, if dues are viewed as too high for the economic environment, association growth can stall. This problem became evident and increasingly difficult for PAMA as aviation’s economic momentum slowed over the past several years. This, in concert with our struggling national economy, is all part of our recovery from the 9/11 terrorist attacks in our country,” Finnegan said. The organization, the only voice to speak for all aircraft technicians, continues to attempt to develop increasingly valuable benefits for its members.
