Lombardo covers business aviation maintenance-related issues. He is also a writer and on-air reporter for AINtv. He has over 3000 articles published and is the author of several books on aircraft systems for pilots and on the topic of flight simulation.
He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from the University of Illinois, has taught aviation for over 35 years in industry and as a university professor and academic dean at three different universities. He is also a frequent seminar and after-dinner motivational speaker.&nbsp;

According to French electronics company Elta, its new ADT406S emergency locator transmitter is not only the first to pass the most recent, more stringent safety tests but it is the only survival ELT currently offered having both salt and freshwater activation. The unit, which meets both U.S. and European requirements, also features a built-in removable identification mode and float-free capability. 

Jet Airways, FlyMe, JetBlue, Air France and Alaska Airlines have all selected the ADT406S as it conforms to all new international airline requirements. Additionally, it meets the needs of many airlines looking to equip their fleets with 406 MHz survival ELTs. ADT406s’ start-up marketing follows closely the company’s recent selection of the ADT406AF (an automatic fixed ELT) by an unnamed U.S. overnight package carrier. 

The latest 406S development complements an already comprehensive ADT family which the company claims addresses a wider range of ELT requirements than any other provider. It includes the ADT 406AF (automatic fixed), ADT406AP (automatic portable) and ADT406S (survival). 

To properly support its range of ELTs globally, Elta has service centers in Singapore, China, the U.S. (also covering Canada and Mexico), the UK (which includes responsibility for the Middle East) and Latin America.
