The longest of the tests lasted more than two hours in hybrid-electric flight, powered by GE Aerospace’s propulsion system developed through the NASA Electrified Powertrain Flight Demonstration project. |

Archer Aviation and autonomous system specialist Anduril rolled out their plans for a family of hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft on July 20. On the opening morning of the Farnborough International Airshow, the U.S. partners unveiled a mockup of a Group 5 model called Thunder, which they described as an autonomous attack rotorcraft. |

Electric propulsion systems manufacturer MagniX is now taking pre-orders from experimental aircraft builders for the MagniAir electric engine, which was unveiled at the Sun ’n Fun show in April. Buyers can place pre-orders on the MagniX website and will be placed in a queue after making a $2,000 deposit. |

Vaeridion has selected UK-headquartered Drive System Design (DSD) to develop, build, and test the propeller drive system for its nine-pasenger Microliner regional airliner. As the German all-electric aircraft developer progresses from preliminary design review to full-scale testing, DSD said its two-phased approach will work to support the concept before delivering “tested hardware for integration” at Vaeridion’s headquarters in Oberpfaffenhofen. |

Hitachi Energy and Eve Air Mobility are working together to develop electric charging infrastructure for eVTOL aircraft, such as the Eve 100 model being developed by the Embraer subsidiary. Under a partnership announced July 17, Hitachi will adapt its Grid-eMotion technology—already in use with buses and trucks—to support electric aircraft. |
